Foo Fighters' 2024 tour dates have begun, and at the opening show in Auckland, New Zealand, the legendary rock band continued their trend of performing covers live, this time with special guest Jack Black, who joined to the band for an AC performance. / “Big Balls” by DC.
Leaning into the song's humor, Black brought the choruses of “Big Balls” to life with the help of Foo Fighters drummer Fiona Jeans, who provided the verses. Singing, dancing and miming holding giant balls, the two put on a great show and of course having one of the world's best rock groups as the backing track also added some oomph.
Foo Fighters began covering “Big Balls” in 2023, performing the 1976 AC/DC cut at each of their Australian dates last year. The performance with Black marked the sixth time they performed it live.
Black, meanwhile, is in New Zealand to film a new movie based on Minecraft. His collaboration with Foo Fighters dates back to Tenacious D's 2001 self-titled debut album, on which Dave Grohl played drums. Then in 2006, Grohl appeared as Satan in the cult favorite Tenacious D film, Tenacious D in The Choice of Destiny. In 2022, Black and Grohl participated in a cover of “Summer Breeze” on stage with Beck.
