The 20-song album by singer-songwriter Forrest Frank Child of God reaches the summit of the Top Christian Albums chart dated August 10. The album, released on July 26, earned 22,000 equivalent album units in the US in the week ending August 1, according to Luminate. album sales were 10,000 of that amount.
Frank from Houston, who first gained traction on social media sites like TikTok, is off to a great start. It marks the biggest week for a Christian album since spring 2023, when Lauren Daigle's self-titled LP debuted on May 27 with 25,000 units including 20,000 in sales.
Child of God is 29-year-old Frank's second Top Christian Albums appearance, following his four-track EP, God is good which debuted at its No. 5 high on April 27 with 4,000 units. All four of these tracks from the EP are also included in Frank's new set. The lead single, “Good Day,” ranks No. 2 best on the Hot Christian Songs chart based on streaming, airplay and sales in its 28th frame. It earned 2.5 million official US streams in its final week of tracking and sold 1,000 downloads. On Country Airplay the song ranks No. 8 with 4.5 million audience impressions (up 6%).
Wells returns to No. 1
Tauren Wells scores his fourth Christian Airplay chart topper as “Take It All Back,” featuring Davies, climbs 2-1 in its 26th week on the chart. The single advanced 5% to 6.6 million plays. Wells co-wrote “Take It All Back” with Daifah Davies, Ethan Hulse Tedd Tjornhom and Colby Wedgeworth.
The song marks the first No. 1 in Davies' first chart appearance. The singer, real name Daifah Davies who hails from Liberia, doubles as a member of Wells' tour band.
As for Wells, “Take It All Back” becomes Christian Airplay's fourth No. 1 among eight top 10 and 21 chart entries. It is his first leader since “Famous For (I Believe)” with Jenn Johnson, which led for a week in January 2021.
Jenkins Banks His seventh No.1
Veteran gospel artist Charles Jenkins scores his seventh No. 1 on Gospel Airplay as “God Be Praised,” featuring Elder Eric Thomas, rises 4-1.
“God Be Praised,” which was written solely by Jenkins, is his fourth consecutive leader. He follows 'Never Knew Love' with his long-time backing group Fellowship Chicago and Stephanie Mills, which reigned for one week in August 2022. before that, as he appeared with Kenny Lewis and One Voice's 'He's Been Good', which also featured Bridgette Hurt and Lemmie Battles. That hit reigned for one week in February 2022. and “He'll Make it Alright,” featuring Fellowship Chicago, which reigned for two frames in February 2021.
As for the well-known singer Elder Eric Thomas, it is his first leader in his first appearance. Thomas is a pastor at Greater Harvest MB Church in Chicago.
