Is it too early to proclaim this year's Valentine's Day anthem?
Four Tet have released “Loved”, a warm new single released on their own Text Records. The influential legendary producer of electronic music. confirmed on social media that it is the opening song of their upcoming 12th album, which will be their first in four years. She has not announced the title or release date of her next album, but said it will be released “soon.”
Like placid terrain just before a storm, the track opens with isolated drums before introducing soft tones into the fray. In tried and true Four Tet style, the lovely plucking takes center stage, filling the warm, heavy air with vibrant veins of colour. Halfway through, a blurry vinyl crackles in the middle as melancholic keys serenade us into the track's haunting coda.
