Foy Vance is delighted to announce a series of special shows at the Grand Opera House, Belfast, from 5-9 November 2024. These shows will feature a set from a guest local comedian each night and a commissioned set from Foy, curated by the audience.
Hailing from Northern Ireland and deeply rooted in the rich musical history of the southern United States, Foy Vance has garnered praise from fans and other musicians alike since releasing his debut independent album in 2007. Foy released his second LP, joy of nothing, in 2013 on Glassnote Records, leading to further critical acclaim and tour invitations from Ed Sheeran, Bonnie Raitt, Marcus Foster, Snow Patrol and Sir Elton John. Additionally, Foy has headlined sold-out tours worldwide.
Foy was the second artist to sign with Gingerbread Man Records, Ed Sheeran's recording division within Atlantic Records. Foy's debut recording with the label. The wild swan was executive produced by Sir Elton John and released in 2016. In 2019, Foy released two companion albums, From muscle banks and To Memphis, which were recorded at FAME Studios in Muscle Shoals, Alabama, and Sam Phillips Recording Studio in Memphis. His songwriting credits include co-writing four tracks from Ed Sheeran's 2017 album Divide, the title track from Sam Smith's latest album Gloria, and collaborations with Alicia Keys, Rag N Bone Man, Keith Urban, Kacey Musgraves, Miranda Lambert, Plan B and Rudimental.
Foy Vance's 2021 album, Signs of life, marked Foy's second studio album as his “own” on Gingerbread Man Records and was a testament to his songwriting abilities. The thoughtful and moving album was written and performed more or less entirely by Vance, with the help of young Northern Irish producer Gareth Dunlop, and received worldwide recognition.
Last year, Foy embarked on his Regarding The Joy of Nothing tour in the US, UK and Australia to celebrate the album's 10th anniversary. This year, she will go on tour again to perform songs from one of her most impactful albums in Europe and Scandinavia.
