Frank Turner has officially broken the world record for most live shows streamed in 24 hours.
The English artist performed 15 independent shows in 15 different cities in a 24-hour period on Saturday, May 4. He had previously achieved a similar feat in 2009, where he performed 24 shows in 24 hours, but all in the greater London area and in an “unofficial” manner. Now, in honor of the Music Venue Trust (MVT), Turner presented 15 independent shows each in a different city, with tickets sold at independent record stores.
MVT rules for the world record attempt stipulated that Turner must perform for a minimum of 15 minutes with at least 25 audience members present, and could not repeat any venue he had previously played during the tour. He began the feat on Saturday with a show in Liverpool and made his way through the English countryside, concluding in Southampton the following day.

Before embarking on her record-breaking quest, Turner shared a “Before” image on instagram, writing: “Here we go friends. 15 shows, 15 city, 24 hours. This is a terrible idea. Thanks to the venues, my team, the record stores and @musicvenuetrust, let's do this.” After completing the series of shows, he quickly posted an “After” photo: “In the last 24 hours, accompanied by my team (Doug, Tre and Mark), we played 15 shows in 15 different cities around the UK,” he wrote Turner. .
“According to @musicvenuetrust rules, that's the world record for 5 shows. Each show was held at a separate venue, with tickets from an independent record store. We did it. Proud. Tired. Grateful. Long live independent music.” Before Turner accomplished the feat last weekend, the world record for most shows in 24 hours was held by Hunter Hayes with 10 shows, and before him was the Flaming Lips with eight.
The outing wasn't just in support of the Music Venue Trust: Frank Turner released his tenth studio album, Unbeaten, on Friday 3 May, and delighted fans across the UK with performances of their new songs throughout the 15 shows. Despite being the newly crowned world record holder, Frank Turner isn't slowing down – the musician has a string of tour dates coming up in 2024, including a US tour alongside Amigo the Devil kicking off at the end of May .
