Several legendary Los Angeles punk rockers appeared on Tuesday's (May 7) episode of the new Netflix show. John Mulaney presents Everybody's in LA Members of Fear, X, Minutemen, Germs and more appeared in an “Old Punks” focus group hosted by Fred Armisen.
The focus group included Minutemen members Mike Watt and George Hurley, Fear frontman Lee Ving, Exene Cervenka and DJ Bonebreak of X, Germs drummer Don Bolles, Avengers leader Penelope Houston, Cramps/Gun Club guitarist Kid Congo Powers, Joe Baiza of Saccarine Trust, the Plungers. ' Trudie Arguelles-Barrett and Johnny Ramone's widow, Linda Ramone.
The fun segment began with Armisen driving around Los Angeles and gathering all the older punks for a focus group. Once he started, Armisen asked a series of questions like, “What is the most punk type of food?” To which Linda Ramone responded, “Pizza,” and Ving exclaimed, “Budweiser, the king of beers!”
The veteran punk rockers later lamented about being spit on at shows, with Ving declaring, “Any motherfucker who spits at me, I want to kick him!”
When the focus group ended, the punks gathered for an all-star jam session to perform an original song called “Ghosty Ghost Place Superstar,” with Cervenka and Ving taking lead vocals.
