Dressed in all black with a red backdrop, Fuerza Regida showed street mob style, bringing an exciting vantage point to the stage at the Billboard Latin Music Awards 2024. They felt elements of traditional Mexican music with the bold aesthetic of a rap ensemble and a dash of reggaeton.
The band, originally from San Bernardino, boasts a strong line-up of talents – frontman JOP, twelve-string guitarist Samuel Jáimez, rhythm guitarist Khrystian Ramos, sousaphonist José “Pelón” García and tololoche player Moisés López – each bringing their own sense.
They opened with 'Tu Name', a no-holds-barred track suitable for anyone ready to move on from an ex-relationship. Delivering the song with raw emotion and fervor, JOP told stories of embracing wild nights and creating new encounters.
The set took an electrifying turn as they moved into 'Nel' from their latest album Pero No Te Enamores. JOP opened with soulful vocals that built to a mesmerizing crescendo, before combining pulsating Jersey club beats with lush reggaetón. In the middle of their performance, a crew of four dancers joined in red latex, surrounding JOP.
Earlier that night, Fuerza received the award for “Hot Latin Songs” Artist, Duo or Group. Both “Nel” and “Tu Name” broke into the Hot Latin Songs chart, peaking at No. 5 and No. 6, respectively, with the latter also entering the Hot 100 at No. 91. They received a total of nine nods.
The 2024 Billboard Latin Music Awards also featured performances from J Balvin, Grupo Niche, Pepe Aguilar, Gloria Trevi, Maria Becerra, Xavi, Chencho Corleone, Prince Royce, Gabito Ballesteros, Proyecto Uno and more.
