The Future and Metro Boomin collaboration album We Don't Trust You debuts at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart (dated April 6) with the biggest week of 2024 by equivalent album units earned, as well as streams generated by songs from an ensemble. Future lands his ninth No. 1 and Metro Boomin his fourth.
The set starts with 251,000 equivalent album units earned in the U.S. in the week ending March 28, according to Luminate, almost entirely from streaming activity. This marks 2024's biggest week of any album, Future's second biggest week ever and Metro Boomin's biggest week.
Also in the top 10 of the new Billboard 200, Olivia Rodrigo tops the charts Offal zooms 18-2 after deluxe reissue with extra tracks and Hozier's new four-song EP Unheard debuts at No. 10, fueled in large part by the streaming-based success of “Too Sweet.”
The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week in the US based on multimetric consumption as measured in equivalent album units, compiled by Luminate. Units include album sales, track album equivalents (TEA) and streaming album equivalents (SEA). Each unit equals one album sale or 10 individual tracks sold from an album or 3,750 ad-supported or 1,250 official paid/subscription audio and video streams generated from songs from an album. Of We Don't Trust YouFirst week unit total was 251,000, SEA units include 245,000 (equivalent to 324.31 million official on-demand streams of the set's 17 songs), traditional album sales 4,500 (the album was available for digital-only purchase download via traditional digital retailers including iTunes and the Amazon Digital Music Store) and TEA units include 1,500.
With 251,000 units earned, the album delivers the biggest week of 2024, Metro Boomin's biggest week ever and Future's second biggest week. For the latter, he scored a bigger week with just another joint effort when he teamed up with Drake What a time to be alive it scored 375,000 units in its opening week (chart dated October 10, 2015), relying heavily on traditional album sales.
Further, We Don't Trust YouThe SEA figure of 245,000 translates to 324.31 million official on-demand streams for the set's songs — the biggest streaming week for any album from Taylor Swift 1989 (Taylor Edition) amassed 375.49 million clicks for its 21 songs on the November 11, 2023 chart. We Don't Trust You it also claims the longest streaming week for any Future or Metro Boomin album.
We Don't Trust You was announced on 8 March as the first of a two-album project, with its sequel, We Still Don't Trust YouApril 12 deadline.
We Don't Trust You boasts artists Kendrick Lamar, Playboi Carti, Rick Ross, Travis Scott and The Weeknd. However, the set was initially revealed on March 22 via digital platforms without revealing the featured artists. A few days later, the set's tracklist was updated to show the guest stars.
The album's most-streamed song of the week is “Like That,” a collaboration with Future, Metro Boomin and Kendrick Lamar, which sent “social media into a frenzy.” On the track, Lamar “drops a lot of volleys, hinting at Drake and J. Cole.”
Olivia Rodrigo's top chart Offal jumps 18-2 on the Billboard 200 with 73,000 equivalent album units earned (up 155%). The set moves up the list following its deluxe reissue on March 22nd (under the name of Offal [Spilled] version) with five additional tracks. The It spilled edition of Offal released as a digital download album and via streaming services. It's not available as a deluxe physical album at this time, but will be released on vinyl on July 19th.
Of the five songs added, four of them (“Obsessed”, “Girl I've Always Been”, “Scared of My Guitar” and “Stranger”) were previously released as bonus tracks on vinyl versions of the original Offal released last year and subsequently collected for a four-song vinyl EP, Guts: The Secret Tracks, released for Record Store Day Black Friday last November. The fifth added song to the new Offal The deluxe is “So American”, a previously unreleased track.
On the Billboard 200, Offal reaches its highest rank since the list dated October 7, 2023, when it also peaked at No. 2 in its third week on the chart.
A pair of former No. 1s are next on the Billboard 200, like Ariana Grande's Eternal sunshine falls 1-3 in its third week (72,000 equivalent album units, down 29%) and Morgan Wallen One thing at a time sinks 3-4 (68,000, down 3%). By Noah Kahan Stick Season is steady at No. 5 with 44,000 (down 3%).
The former chart toppers occupy numbers 6-9 of the most recent chart and are all unchanged from the previous week. by SZA warning sign is No. 6 (41,000, down 6%), by Taylor Swift Lover is No. 7 (40,000, down 1%), Zach Bryan's self-titled album is No. 8 (39,000, down 3%) and Swift 1989 (Taylor Edition) is No. 9 (38,000, down 4%).
Hozier completes the top 10 on the new Billboard 200 as his four-song EP Unheard debuts at No. 10. The set earned nearly 38,000 equivalent album units, mostly from streaming activity. Of that starting amount, SEA units make up 34,000 (equivalent to 44.15 million official on-demand streams of the set's four songs), album sales make up 3,000, and TEA units make up a negligible amount. Unheard marks Hozier's fourth top 10 chart effort, which follows Unreal Unearth (No. 3, 2023), Wasteland, baby! (No. 1, 2019) and its homonymous set (No. 2, 2014).
Unheard collects four songs that were recorded but not included, Unreal Unearth. Among the four tracks is the viral “Too Sweet,” which drives much of his streaming activity Unheard. The song was first heard through a teaser clip during Hozier's March 6 performance How long has it been gone podcast. The clip quickly went viral through the artist's fan base, followed by popularity on TikTok and then a warm embrace on streaming services.
