The wait is finally over. Thanks to fans' patience, Metro Boomin and Future are giving away two albums for the price of one, as the legendary duo teased their long-awaited joint effort with a trailer on Friday (March 8).
Young Metro and Pluto have revealed that the double albums will be titled We Don't Trust You — which plays off of Metro Boomin's “If Young Metro don't trusted you, I'm gon' shoot you” producer tag that Future came up with.
Part one of We Don't Trust You arrives on March 22nd, and a second and completely separate album will be released on April 12th. “Great things come to those who wait.” Metro wrote on Instagram with a caption on the trailer.
As for the cinematic teaser, the clip finds Metro and Future traveling in a luxury SUV surrounded by the barren desert. They step out in black suits as the Prodigy provide the braggadocios soundtrack with the late Mobb Deep rapping the rest of his undeserving hip-hop competition.
“A lot of rappers running around,” P states in disgust. “These n–s ain't supposed to rap, man. This game is for a select few. They are a select few and that is today. Always remember that. Nothing changes. F— all that n—-s.”
“We don't trust you,” Future says. 2Pac's trust issues close the trailer: “I don't trust no mother body.”
It's been a long journey to launch the anticipated joint album from the Atlanta hopefuls who haven't collaborated since they made magic with “Mask Off,” which reached No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2017.
We Don't Trust You will serve as Metro Boomin's follow-up to the Grammy nominees Heroes & Villains and Future's first effort since 2022 I never liked you.
Last September, Metro championed their upcoming joint LP as album of the year for 2024. “AOTY [album of the year] loading [three battery emojis],” He wrote.
Metro Boomin has teased various records with Future during DJ sets over the last year and an unreleased song garnered a ton of buzz on social media, which he previewed in December at Travis Scott's Audemars Piguet launch party in New York.
We Don't Trust You isn't the only plan for a Metro release in '24, as he hints at releasing three albums this year.
