Don't even waste your time trying to rival her: Beyoncé is 2023's Mother of the Year Grindr surveyed more than 10,000 queer people for their annual “Unwrapped Report,” which details the app's users' views on key moments of of pop culture — and Rolling rock can exclusively share what gay people had to say about music in 2023.
When asked to choose a Mother of the Year, the Renaissance The superstar reached No. 1. Close behind were Taylor Swift in second place, Dolly Parton in third, Kylie Minogue in fourth and Madonna at No. 5. In case you were wondering, Urban Dictionary defines “mother” as “a woman who is iconic and constantly serves pussy.” And for Gen Z, “serves cunt” means “bold. Up to a point. And generally excessive.”
“Beyoncé gave us everything in her culture-inspired ballroom Renaissance tour and movies, making her the undisputed mother of the year — the inspirational queen who just won us over,” says Tristan Pineiro, VP of Brand Marketing at Grindr. Rolling rock.
It's been a big year in music for all five mothers ranked: Beyoncé had the iconic one Renaissance tour, Swift shut everyone up with the Eras tour, Ms. Parton collaborated with literally everyone on her new album, Minogue had a major comeback with “Padam Padam,” and Madonna has dancers in jockstraps for the Celebration Tour.
No surprise: Minogue topped (no pun intended) the Song of the Year list thanks to the campy “Padam Padam,” which graced gay clubs across the country. “Flowers” by pansexual goddess Miley Cyrus reached No. 2, followed by twink-in-chief Troye Sivan's “Rush.” In fourth was SZA's 'Kill Bill' and in fifth was Taylor Swift's 'Karma', but the version with Ice Spice.
Gay men polled by Grindr also ranked the Greatest Services of 2023, and once again, Queen Bey had the No. 1 slot. The service in question? All her outfits on the Renaissance tour.
“The queer community has always had its finger on the pulse of pop culture, and it's always a lot of fun to see our users' hot performances of the year through Unwrapped,” added Pineiro.
“Britney's Dance With Knives” reached No. 2 on the service chart and “The Met Gala Cockroach” at No. 5. Also on the list were Rihanna's Super Bowl performance at No. 3 and stage diving by Taylor Swift during her Eras Tour on the fourth.
Grindr will release Unwrapped data about its users' habits on Monday, including gender and relationship data. Their reports include analysis of which country has the most top, bottom and active users.
