Rising London songwriter gglum, stage name Ella Smoker, unveils 'Eating Rust', the latest seductive single from her forthcoming debut album, The dream of the garden, arriving March 29 at Secretly Canadian.
“Eating Rust” is a testament to gglum's melody, blending intimacy and atmosphere into a powerful, yet understated, breakup anthem. The track showcases her ability to capture raw emotion with subtlety, proving that less can be more when making a truly impressive song.
Smoker shares” “It was the first song I did while writing the album that I felt summed up the sound of the album for me,” explains Smoker, “It's all about a time in my life where I was desperate for someone's love and approval person. which I would never get (yet I would keep trying anyway). It's about what inspired the dream that inspired the album.”
He also shares some ideas for the album, “When I was writing it, I was having so many nightmares, just graphic and disturbing things. I think my subconscious was telling me I had some shit to deal with, a lot of the self-doubt I'd had since I was a teenager. It was strangely good timing, because now I'm at a point in my life where I'm really, really happy and I'm in a good place to look back.”
