In a turn of events that's as unfortunate as it is “pee-wee,” an Illinois-based event producer has united the electronic music community in a unique fundraising effort to replace DJ decks damaged by the urine.
After an overzealous raver literally put out the spirits at a “Ravesgiving” Christmas event by urinating on top of the DJ booth and wetting a DJ controller underneath, NERV MHZ released a GoFundMe campaign with a goal of $1,500. This fundraiser has already made a splash, raising over $500 to replace the equipment.
NERV MHZ says that the equipment is being evaluated to see if repairs will be possible, but the author has promoted that in any case, the funds will be used to increase the equipment's performance in its events. As a token of gratitude, they plan to create a special mix dedicated to the donors in a salutary reminder of the dance music community's ability to stick together through thick and thin, or in this case, through the wet and the dry. .
“From the bottom of my heart, thank you so much to everyone who donated,” NERV wrote to donors in a recent campaign update. “To be honest, we weren't expecting this much support for this cause, but we are extremely grateful for each of you who shared or donated.”
