The first trailer of telmaThe comedy starring June Squibb about a grandmother who becomes John Wick with older con artists has arrived.
telma It follows Squibb as 93-year-old Thelma Post, who is scammed out of $10,000 by phone scammers posing as her grandson (Fred Hechinger). After the police tell her they can't help her, she enlists the help of her friend Ben (Richard Roundtree) and sets out to get revenge on her. Rounding out the cast are Parker Posey, Clark Gregg, Malcolm McDowell and more.
The film will hit theaters on June 21 and will be released through Magnolia Pictures. Watch the trailer below.
telma It first premiered last January at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival. In his review, ConsequenceLiz Shannon Miller praised the film's mix of comedy and genuine depth of feeling, calling it a “love letter to grandmothers.”
This is just the latest project from a still quite active Squibb, which appeared in Don't tell mom that the babysitter is dead in April, and is expected to have a role in the next Inside out 2. Meanwhile, Hechinger will appear in one of the most anticipated films of 2024, Gladiator 2and Posey has joined the cast of The white lotus for the third season of the acclaimed show.
