Green Day kicked off their North American “Saviors Tour” at Washington, DC’s Nationals Park on Monday night (July 29), with 41,000 fans in attendance. The tour lineup includes support from The Smashing Pumpkins, Rancid and The Linda Lindas.
The outing finds Green Day celebrating the 30th and 20th anniversaries of their classic albums. Cookie and American Idiotrespectively. The punk veterans are playing both albums in full, plus other favorites and selections from their latest LP, SaviorsIn total, frontman Billie Joe Armstrong and company performed a set of 37 songs.

The show began with the Saviors single “The American Dream Is Killing Me”, and was followed by a start-to-finish performance of Cookie. Further Saviors Songs and other hits formed the central part, with a complete performance of American Idiot The concert concluded with the new song “Bobby Sox” and the closing track “Good Riddance (Time of Your Life).”
The Smashing Pumpkins provided live support with an 11-song set that included favorites like “Tonight, Tonight,” “Bullet with Butterfly Wings,” “1979,” and “Cherub Rock.” Unfortunately, Rancid’s set was cut short due to heavy rain, and the punk band was only able to play two songs. However, the weather cooperated with opening act The Linda Lindas, who performed a full seven-song set.
