Maluma cements his status as a winner Advertising signregional Mexican Airplay chart thanks to “Por Qué Será?”, his first collaboration with Grupo Frontera, as the song jumps from No. 3 to dominate the August 10 survey.
“Por Qué Será?” was released on May 9 as the fourth single from Grupo Frontera's album Jugando a Que No Pasa Nadahis second studio album, which earned the Texas band a first top 10 debut (between two top 10s overall) on both the Top Latin Albums and Regional Mexican Albums in May, at No. 10 and No. 6; respectively.
On Regional Mexican Airplay, “Por Qué Será?” climbed from No. 3 in week eight after a 23% increase in audience impressions to 7.4 million in the July 26-Aug. 1, according to Luminate. The move sends Becky G and Oscar Maydon's “Mercedes” to No. 4, with 4.9 million impressions, down 23% from last week.
With the new champion, Frontera scores their 10th No. 1 on Regional Mexican Airplay and ties with Grupo Firme for the ninth-most by a group since the chart debuted in 1994. The song follows and equal winner, “(Entre Paréntesis)” with Shakira, which earned the pop icon her first leader in a regional Mexican tally (list dated May 18).
The ranchera “Por Qué Será?”, meanwhile, gives Maluma his third champion. The Colombian singer has been at the top twice before, through “Cada Quien”, with Grupo Firme, for two weeks in the lead in 2022, and with Carin León in “Según Quién” in December 2023.
“Por Qué Será?” joins another song from its parent album Jugando a Que No Pasa Nadathat reached the summit in Regional Mexican Airplay: “Ya Pedo Quién Sabe,” featuring Christian Nodal, topped the radio chart for one week in May.
In addition, “Por Qué Será?” also gains ground on the overall Latin Airplay chart, pushing 5-2.
