Singer-songwriter HARDY is turning what could have been a discouraging early career moment into not only the title of his new song “Quit!!”, but also the title of his newly announced tour, which kicks off in May.
The 15-date trek will kick off May 30 in Rogers, Ark., and conclude July 27 in Tinley Park, Ill. Opening for HARDY are Kip Moore, Travis Denning, Ella Langley and Stephen Wilson Jr.
Accepting his 2022 ACM Songwriter of the Year honor, HARDY used his acceptance speech as a vindication, recalling a singer-songwriter show from his early years in Nashville when someone slipped a napkin into the jar with his tip. Written on it was a simple message: “Finish!”
Hardy used that discouragement as fuel on “Quit!!” as well, charting his journey from struggling Nashville newcomer to writing hit songs for Florida Georgia Line and Morgan Wallen, then coming into his own as an artist and forging new paths with his country. -hybrid rock project The Mockingbird & The Crowwhich has cemented his current position as a multi-genre hitmaker thanks to the rock chart hits “Jack” and “Sold Out”.
“Thank you for inspiring me to be great,” HARDY said in a statement. “I guess sometimes holding a grudge is a good thing.”
While “Give Up!!” details HARDY's journey, offered fans a deeper look into this current situation with the release of the 22-minute short film Becoming The Crow which was released on January 11. The Justin Clough-directed project highlighted two nights of 2023 — one on Jan. 23 as it played a doubleheader at The Troubadour and The Roxy, while on Oct. 26 it kicked off the first night of a three-night stand at Nashville's Municipal Amphitheater. The film features not only HARDY, but also producers Joey Moi and David Garcia, label head and manager Seth England and manager Troy “Tracker” Johnson, HARDY's bandmates, tour camp and more.
