The past six weeks have witnessed a massive explosion in the hip-hop world. The feud between Drake and Kendrick Lamar, sparked by the latter's warning shots on Future and Metro Boomin's chart-topping song “Like That,” has set the scene on fire. This feud, which has been simmering for more than a decade, has sparked heated debate in the hip-hop world and on social media and left fans on the edge of their seats, anxiously awaiting the next move.
Drake and Lamar, with their contrasting styles and diverse appeal, have not only been embroiled in a controversy, but have also sparked a range of reactions from their passionate fans. From sharing humorous memes and reporting diss tracks to engaging in detailed analysis, the battle between these two hip-hop giants has become a hot topic of conversation and a canvas for a myriad of emotions and opinions.
The latest tracks came in the first weekend of May, starting with Drake's “Family Matters” on May 3. While the response was smart, Kendrick drowned out the noise and excitement with his diabolical response, “Meet the Grahams,” which came minutes later. The song offered Lamar's take on everyone in Drake's family tree who was allegedly affected by his deceitful ways.
Kendrick then tried to put the nail in the coffin with his DJ Mustard-produced song “Not Like Us,” which deviates from his previous releases. “Say, Drake, I hear you like you young/ You better never go to the cell one/ To no b—- that they talk to and they're in love/ Just make sure you hide your sister from him.” rapped Kendrick.
Drake returned on May 5 with “The Heart Pt. 6,” which examined all allegations and claims made against him, including his alleged predatory behavior. “This Epstein angle was the first one I've been waiting for / TikTok videos you collected and remixed / Instead of being on some direct s–t / You'd rather grab your pen and misdirect the s–t,” Drake said.
