Azealia Banks is playing matchmaker and wants to see Tyler, the Creator and Lil Nas X become music's newest power couple.
Banks published a long message on Instagram on Sunday (April 7) explaining why she hopes the two talented creatives join forces romantically.
“I really think tyler the creator and lil nas x need to get over their break white bussy obsession and become a power couple,” she wrote. “I think the sensationalism of successful black gay men playing trailers and hiring nannies as an arm is played out, predictable, and obviously both objectified and designed by these boys for recruitment.”
“It would be much more monumental to see [two] young black gay men as object. Even just for aesthetic reasons,” he added.
The Harlem native continued to harp on why Tyler and Lil Nas would “change the culture so hard”: “Tyler can teach nas x how to rap so he can stop doing his Azealia Banks impressions and fire all these weirdo white creative directors who apparently have no point of reference or respect for the nuance, pure musical opulence and political foundations he was created to inherit.”
Tyler went into Banks' comments section laughing at AB's whirlwind of emotions. “Lamfao what the hell,” he wrote, seemingly taken aback. the comment has gained more than 6,000 likes since it was posted.
The Grammy-winning rapper has been coy about his love life, but comedian Jerrod Carmichael recently opened up about how Tyler rejected his advances during an episode of his new reality show Jerrod Carmichael reality show.
“I fell in love with my best friend. one out of 10, I don't recommend it,” Carmichael said in the program. “I knew I had to tell him. Things started to get a little weird between us. I had these feelings… So I texted him. I remember saying, “I know you didn't ask for this, but somewhere along the line I developed feelings for you and I don't know what to do with it.” Then I immediately turned off my phone and went into therapy. [Tyler] sent me a voice note. I was so nervous. It was like six seconds… He said, “Hahahahaha, stupid b-h.” And I don't really know what that means.”
Carmichael wanted Tyler to be his date to the Emmy Awards, but the California native declined the invitation. However, they hit it off publicly during a joint interview on the show. “It's because I told you I had feelings for you and we never talked about it,” Carmichael explained. “I feel like you let me hang out a little.”
Tyler replied with a laugh. “I did. Yes I did it. And I think I just got over it,” he said. “Getting news like this and then avoiding it is a way to avoid change.”
The Igor The rapper said he sees Carmichael – who featured on Tyler's 2019 album – as “really family” and a “brother”.
