Jowell & Randy will soon host their quintet of dates at the Coliseo de Puerto Rico José Miguel Agrelot — where they've already delivered an interesting list of riders to the promoter.
As tradition goes, a rider is a set of dressing room requests made by the artist that are usually met by the venue. This can range from food to drinks to decorations and more. For their upcoming appearances, the couple requested 1,500 pounds of dog and cat food.
While this may sound strange, it's actually for a good cause.
The Puerto Rican duo – known for hits like “Bonita” featuring J Balvin, Nicky Jam, Yandel and Ozuna and “Safaera” featuring Bad Bunny and Ñengo Flow – teamed up with Giving Tuesday Puerto Rico to highlight the importance of donating to and supporting local social causes.
“We as artists ask for what we want because we have our demands,” member Joel “Jowell” Muñoz said in a press statement. “We've requested 1,500 pounds of dog and cat food, but it's to donate to Save a Sato organizing through the Giving Tuesday movement. There are quite a few artists who have joined and it is a positive initiative from our side. Anyone who wants to participate and donate can choose any other foundation, the important thing is to donate.”
The organization Pet Friendly PR also confirmed that it will be collection of donations of pet food at some of the Jowell & Randy concerts on December 12th, 13th, 14th, 15th and 20th.
“Creative actions like this help give visibility to the critical work of our organizations,” added Blamilsa Corujo, local leader of Giving Tuesday Puerto Rico.
Other artists participating in the Giving Tuesday initiative were Rawayana, Gale and Jon Z, who asked for donations of 300 whoppers and 200 hula hoops, for example. For more information, visit Giving Tuesday's PR.
