Hit-Boy shared the sad news yesterday (October 23) that Big Hit's father is back in jail.
The producer posted a video of Big Hit talking from a prison phone and sharing his appreciation for his fans. “It's a free Big Hit, my na,” he said. “You know what I'm saying, I fight with my real fans, n—a. If you're all with me, go download my CDs and redeem my merch.
His son, Hit-Boy, also shared a caption explaining why he and his pops have been making so much music over the past year. “People were asking me what it was that I was putting out so much music and moving around so much with my pops,” he began to explain, “In the back of my mind, the paranoia of him coming back was always there and here we are. . We don't know what the future holds, but Big Hit sends his love to all his supporters. He recorded over 700 songs when he was out, so we got more music.”
Hit-Boy and Big Hit have been making impressive music since the elder Hit was released from prison in May 2023. The 53-year-old served 15 years in federal prison after being caught with 10 kilograms of cocaine, 10 guns, and $300,000 in cash while son he grew up, according to a Men's Health profile. He then found himself back inside for a 12-year sentence for a crime connected to a hit-and-run accident six years after he got out.
Since Big Hit came home, he and his son have released three projects: Surf or Drown, Vol. 2, Paisley Dreams with The Game, and Black & Whites with the Alchemist.
