English singer-songwriter Miles Smith lands his first career entry on the Billboard Hot 100 chart (dated May 25) as his breakout single “Stargazing” debuts at No. 77.
Released May 10 on It's Okay To Feel/RCA Records, the track charted with 6.7 million official US streams, 34,000 radio audiences and 6,000 downloads sold in its first week (through May 16), according to Luminate. It also debuts at No. 10 on Digital Song Sales.
The song's opening week was fueled in part by activity on TikTok leading up to its official release. Smith first teased the song with an acoustic performance posted on April 8. After this clip went viral, a demo version of the song was released on the platform on April 16, and the audio has been used in more than 8,000 videos until today. On April 21, he released the official audio on the platform and has since released the soundtrack 50,000 clips. (TikTok activity not included Advertising sign charts other than the TikTok Billboard Top 50.)
Smith had not appeared in a Advertising sign chart before this week. Beyond the Hot 100, “Stargazing” debuts at No. 7 on Hot Rock Songs and No. 9 on Hot Rock & Alternative Songs. It also opens at No. 42 on the Billboard Global 200 and No. 44 on the Billboard Global Excl. USA chart.
Further, Smith himself debuts at No. 7 on the Emerging Artists chart.
Smith is originally from Luton, England. He gained fans on TikTok by performing covers of popular songs, including “Wake Me Up!” by Avicii. and “Sweater Weather” by The Neighbourhood. He has released over a dozen songs on streaming services, all since 2023.
