It's the first Monday in May, which means fashion and pop culture fans will gather to enjoy yet another Met Gala.
Bad Bunny and Jennifer Lopez will serve as co-chairs of the 2024 Met Gala on Monday (May 6) as will Zendaya, Chris Hemsworth and, as usual, Fashioneditor-in-chief Anna Wintour.
This year's theme, Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion, is set to feature 250 items from the Costume Institute's permanent collection, according to an Instagram post announcing the theme in November. “From a 17th-century Elizabethan English bust and Christian Dior's famous Junon and Venus balls, to 21st-century acquisitions by designers such as Phillip Lim, Stella McCartney and Conner Ives, the main exhibition will span 400 years of history,” reads the caption. . According Fashionworks will be exhibited at New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art in new ways, including elements such as video animation, CGI, AI and more.
Additionally, the event's dress code is “The Garden of Time,” inspired by a 1962 JG Ballard short story of the same name.
As usual, the 2024 Met Gala live stream will be hosted by Fashion, and broadcast live on its digital platforms as well as Tik Tok and YouTube. The Met Gala will be live streamed by Gwendoline Christie, La La Anthony and model Ashley Graham.
