Esteemed electronic music DJ and producer Jackmaster has died at the age of 38, his family announced today.
The influential Scottish artist, whose real name was Jack Revill, tragically succumbed to complications from an “accidental head injury” suffered on the island of Ibiza.
“It is with deep sadness that we confirm the untimely passing of Jack Revill, known to many as Jackmaster,” reads a statement posted today on Revill's Instagram. “Jack died tragically in Ibiza on the morning of October 12, following complications arising from an accidental head injury.”
Jackmaster, who rose to fame in Glasgow, held residencies on BBC Radio 1 and co-founded the prominent Numbers label. The record label became a platform for pioneering electronic artists such as Jamie xx, Hudson Mohawke and the late SOPHIE, among many others.
“His family, Kate, Sean and Johnny, are completely heartbroken,” the statement continued. “While deeply moved by the overwhelming support from friends, colleagues and fans, the family kindly requests privacy as they navigate the immense pain of this devastating loss.”
