Under a huge, bright full moon, Miami's Virginia Key Beach came alive with house music at We Belong Here in late February.
Shuffling feet and smiling faces emerged throughout the dusty day and into the cold Florida night, feeding off the energy of Wax Motif, Tchami, Bob Moses and many more. We Belong Here 2024 transformed the Miami Beach park into a house music oasis.
Spanning multiple stages, label takeovers by Deep Root Tribe and Lane 8's This Never Happened mesmerized as fans danced in the sand. DJ sets from Le Youth, Jerro, Moblack, EMBRZ and EDM.com Class of 2024 star Nitefreak wowed us.
Sun-kissed festival-goers sparkled in the light of the setting sun as Wax Motif and Tchami performed golden hour performances on Saturday and Sunday. The sunset performances acted as perfect segways from day to night while activating an impressive array of visual effects and lasers. Temperatures began to drop below the dazzling full moon, which lit up the dance floor along with top-notch production.
Perhaps the highlight of the weekend-long festival was Bob Moses' hypnotic club set. The duo effortlessly fused electronic and live elements and even featured dancers on stage, who moved gracefully with the wind on the cold Florida night.
The captivating performance combined their signature sound with energizing house and techno hits woven throughout. Meanwhile, the electrifying sets of Duke Dumont, Gordo, Apache and Tom & Collins put the cherry on top of each day of this dream festival.
Another highlight of We Belong Here was their on-site food market. The festival partnered with Smorgasburg, an iconic Miami food vendor market that also pops up in Toronto, New York, Washington DC, and more. From churro ice cream to spicy Korean chicken sandwiches, elote, birria and much more, the culinary offerings were absolutely delicious.
The vendor village offered a wide variety of festival clothing and accessories, as well as wellness and snack vendors. The town connected with a wide selection of small businesses that represented the festival community and showcased their fashion.
All said and done, We Belong Here 2024 acted as the fusion point between the sensual vibes of Miami and the timeless energy of house music, a perfect combination. Combined with the magic of the full moon shining down on us, the festival was surreal.
“It was exciting to be back in historic Virginia Key Beach for the third year in a row,” said Justin Dauman, executive director and co-founder of the event. “The growth and progression of the festival, while remaining true to providing all attendees with spacious dance floors and enhanced amenities, has been nothing short of amazing. It is a testament to the hard work and dedication that comes from the many incredible people who collaborate to make the event a reality.
“This epically kicks off what will undoubtedly be the biggest year yet for We Belong Here, with many exciting announcements on the horizon.”
