The country singer focuses on choreography and vintage vibes in a clip to open her concert
Lainey Wilson leans into the vintage vibes of music reviews in the new video for “Hang Tight Honey,” a frenetic travel clip that follows the country star and her band at a show and on the road.
The video has two main settings. The first casts Wilson as a 60s-style little girl in blue pants and sky-high hair, placing her on the set of a TV variety show where the cameras capture a lot of rubber. The second vignette features a more real Wilson in her typical regalia of a cowboy hat and hip-hugging bell bottoms. But even these scenes seem filtered and faded to emphasize the throwback aesthetic.
Other segments take place in what appears to be one of Willie Nelson's former tour buses: There is a placard in the window of the bus that reads “On the Road Again”. The video ends with an experimental “To Be Continued…” that will likely tie in with Wilson's music video for another new song, “4x4xU,” premiering July 4th at 1pm ET.
Taking cues from her own autobiography, “Hang Tight Honey,” the second track to be released from Wilson's upcoming new album, Tornado, is an upbeat outburst of country soul that serves to reassure her lover that she'll soon be home from the road, and with a pocket full of money to boot. (In one scene in the video, she's in a hotel room with her cash, and it's raining.)
Wilson is currently on the road, where she uses “Hang Tight Honey” to kick off her shows. On Sunday, she and her band opened for the Rolling Stones at Soldier Field in Chicago, and Wilson later joined Mick Jagger on stage to sing “Dead Flowers.”
of Wilson Tornado will be released on August 23rd and will feature a collaboration with Miranda Lambert, along with the previously released track “Country's Cool Again”.
