After “Está Dañada” earned Ivan Cornejo his first top 10 Advertising sign'On Hot Latin Songs 2021, the Mexican-American singer-songwriter returns to upper territory as “Baby Please” debuts at No. 8 on the chart dated March 30.
“Baby Please” enters the top 10 of the Hot Latin Songs polymetric chart primarily on the strength of streaming activity. (The chart combines streams, airplay and sales.) In the March 15-21 tracking week, the song logged 5.4 million official streams in the US, according to Luminate. Thanks to that amount, the track bows at No. 5 on Latin Streaming Songs and gives Cornejo his third top 10 there.
It's no surprise that 19-year-old Cornejo is making a new visit to the chart mainly from his streaming activity. Of his 14 chart entries on Hot Latin Songs, streams provide essentially the majority of his songs' activity there. Only “Dañada” (2021) and “Inseparables” which peaked at No. 2 (top 20 in 2022) generated minimal digital download sales, while radio has yet to pick up.
As “Baby Please” reaches the Hot Latin Songs top 10, Cornejo claims his second top 10, following “Dañada,” his chart debut, which debuted at No. 7 in October 2021 and reached No. 2 a week later (chart dated October 30, 2021). In between, the sad sierreño singer put up 12 more songs, with “Aquí Te Espero” narrowly missing the top 10 as it debuted and peaked at No. 11 in August 2023.
Additionally, with the new song's high debut, indie label Zaragoza collects its first top 10 on Hot Latin Songs. Cornejo peaked at No. 30 via “Donde Estás” last December.
Elsewhere, “Baby Please” gives Cornejo his third chart visit on the overall Billboard Hot 100, as the song debuts at No. 95.
