Jack Antonoff brings his distaste for You (formerly known as Kanye West) on national television. Speaking to Jimmy Kimmel on Tuesday night (April 16), the producer took shots at the rapper while indulging in a mock therapy session with the late-night host, likening the “Donda” hitmaker to a cranky baby in an overstuffed diaper.
“There are two people that I think are too sensitive to function, and they're men and they're in the music industry,” the Bleachers frontman explained. Jimmy Kimmel Live!, reclining in his chair while impersonating a patient in therapy. “The amount of sensitivity — it's like watching Kanye. If I saw Kanye, I would run up to him and say, “Your diaper is so full, we have to change your diaper. Your diaper needs to be changed, it's a huge problem.”
“The truth is, I'm not that offended,” Antonoff added, touching on Ye's history of anti-Semitism, which last year cost the rapper multiple label deals and led to him losing his billionaire status. “I'm offended, but I'm not that offended, so I don't like to play this character of the overly offended. I'd rather settle the trolling.”
This is not the first time that Antonoff, who is Jewish, has mocked Ye. In fact, it's not even the first time she's hinted that the controversial figure is suffering from a loaded pull-up. In a February interview with Los Angeles Timesthe “Don't Take the Money” singer quipped that the rapper “just needs to change his diaper so much.”
“It's been a long time since I've gotten a call from Kanye,” he added when asked if he'd ever work with Ye in the future. “I get so sick of it when someone runs out of sauce so they go somewhere else to shock. It's just a remarkable waste of space.”
Aside from Ye's hate speech, Antonoff has another big reason to oppose the hip-hop titan. The former Fun band member is a longtime friend and collaborator of Taylor Swift, whose tumultuous feud with Ye has been highly publicized over the years.
In January, Antonoff also called the “Gold Digger” artist “little cry baby bh” in a tweet upon finding out that Ye Vultures 2 was scheduled to arrive on March 8, the same day Bleachers dropped their self-titled record. Homeless spectator seats at a match debuted at No. 62 on the Billboard 200, while founder Yeezy's project was delayed.
Antonoff is fresh off his appearance with Bleachers on the opening weekend of Coachella 2024, which featured Swift and Travis Kelce. The guitarist will take to the Mojave Stage once again on Saturday (April 20) when the festival resumes for a second weekend.
