As Taylor Swift's 11th studio album, Department of Tormented Poetsmade its way to the world at midnight on April 19 via Republic Records, Swift's longtime collaborator Jack Antonoff took to Twitter to praise the new project.
Early on April 19, Antonoff wrote, “I love this album more than I can say…. love you all so much… later very overwhelmed… love you taylor.'
Antonoff also appeared to praise specific songs from the album in other tweets, writing “!! FOTS heads lets go!!” which appeared to be a nod to the song “Fresh Out the Slammer.” He also wrote, “down bad heads also,” which appeared to be a reference to the album's “Down Bad.”
The Tortured Poets section features 16 songs, including collaborations with Post Malone (“Fortnight”) and Florence + The Machine (“Florida!!!”). At 2 a.m. on Friday, Swift surprised fans by revealing it Department of Tormented Poets it is a double album and a LP with 15 additional tracks was released.
Antonoff, who is also the lead singer for the rock band Bleachers, is a co-producer and writer on the new album with Swift and Aaron Dessner, and has worked closely with Swift on several of her albums. One of the first times they worked together was in 2013 when they co-wrote and produced “Sweeter Than Fiction” from the film's soundtrack. One chance. Antonoff subsequently wrote and co-produced several of Swift's songs 1989 album, which won Best Pop Vocal album and album of the Year at the 2016 Grammy Awards.
After his success 1989Antonoff co-wrote and co-produced Swift's albums, including Reputation, Lover, Folklore, Forever and Midnight, as well as many of the tracks from “From the Vault” on Swift's re-recorded albums (“Taylor's Version”). He has also worked with artists such as Lana Del Rey, The Chicks, Lorde, Pink and Sia.
In an interview with Los Angeles Times earlier this year, Antonoff excelled Swift's songwriting ability, saying the prospect of questioning Swift's abilities “is like questioning one's faith in God. Just don't go there.”
