Jack Antonoff has spent much of the last few years working with superstars like Taylor Swift and Lana Del Rey — and on Thursday night (December 21) his visit to Late Night with Seth Meyersthe producer revealed what it's really like to make music with the pop creators.
“I'm really proud of these two,” the New Jersey native said of Swift's Midnight and Del Rey Did you know there is a tunnel under Ocean Blvd, co-producer of both. “Lana and Taylor, we just worked for a long time and found this space where it gets, like, dumber and looser and more exciting.”
“I think a big theme is investing in long-term relationships,” Antonoff added of the projects, which he personally links to his recent marriage to actress Margaret Qualley. (Both Swift and Del Rey were in attendance at the newlyweds' ceremony in August.)
The Bleachers frontman is fresh off a tally of six Grammy nominations for next year's awards, including producer of the year. He's also running against himself in two of the major categories — song of the year and album of the year — thanks to his co-writing and producing with Swift and Del Rey on their albums and their songs “Anti-Hero” and “A&W.” respectively. .
Antonoff also recently helped Swift celebrate her 34th birthday by attending a star-studded party at New York's The Box nightclub. In a recent interview with Vulturealso revealed which of the Eras Tour showwoman's songs still gets him emotional: “You're on Your Own, Kid” from Midnight.
“I remember, he wrote it right in front of me and then we put it down and I was totally punched in the gut,” he told the publication. “Beautiful.”
