Due to bad weather, Jack Harlow's inaugural Gazebo festival reminder has been canceled on Sunday (May 26). The festival released a statement early Sunday afternoon after discussing the status of the day's event, opting to cancel things for the safety of everyone involved.
“The safety of our patrons, artists and staff is paramount. “Due to continued dangerous conditions throughout the afternoon and a second round of weather expected this evening, we have made the very difficult decision to cancel the remainder of the Gazebo festival,” the statement read. “All Sunday ticket holders will receive a full refund. All weekend ticket holders will receive a 50% refund. Refunds will be issued within 30 days.”
Harlow was involved in the difficult decision to cancel the rest of the festival through a Instagram Story. “Good. We have to cancel the second day of the Gazebo,” he wrote. “We are currently watching for tornadoes. I know things have cleared up a bit, but the bad weather has destroyed the site and there are more storms and dangerous winds on the way. This means everyone on Day 2 they won't be playing anymore I'm trying to focus on the positives because I'm grateful for our perfect day and the way this city came together Thank you so much .”
The first day of Gazebo Fest included several exciting performances headlined by SZA, Vince Staples, Majid Jordan, Larry June, Raven Lenae, Jordan Ward and a DJ set by James Blake. With a mix of hip-hop, R&B and DJ sets, Gazebo Fest got off to a promising start as the two-day event brought in thousands of fans, especially out-of-towners, excited to see Harlow's vision come to life.
“It sucks. I've always wanted to see Jack Harlow in person and I was thrilled to see him. I am very disappointed that the concert was cancelled. However, I understand that our safety comes first,” says Olujimi Awoliyi, a fan who traveled from New York to see Harlow play this Memorial Day weekend. Advertising sign.
Sunday's lineup initially featured a headlining performance from Harlow and buzzing acts like Pink Pantheress, Amaraee and Omar Apollo, continuing the 'Lovin on Me' star's theme of eclecticism. And while Harlow didn't exactly get to bow out at his first festival tonight, he thanked his hometown for turning up with him as he posted a photo of himself enjoying last night's festivities on his Instagram Stories.
“Yesterday was a perfect day. Thanks, Louisville,” he wrote.
