Comic book fans are still unsure exactly how James Gunn's rebooted DC Universe will wrap up and which characters will be invited to join his new Superman and his friends, but if rumors are to be believed, John Cena Peacemaker will be included as the show's second season has just wrapped filming.
On Monday (November 25), James Gunn excitedly announced that Season 2 of the popular DC series is officially in the can, and he took to X to express his love for the team behind it, writing, “And that's a WRAP up #Peacemaker season 2, including the last remaining actors Steve Agee, Tim Meadows, Sol Rodriguez & Brandon Stanley (and DP Sam McCurdy pictured here moments after the final shot.) Thanks to our entire cast and crew for making this a wonderful experience . My relief at taking a break from filming after ten straight months is outweighed by how much I'm going to miss you all!”
In an earlier post, Gunn praised John Cena himself for his portrayal of the character posting a photo of himself with Cena saying:And this is one #Peacemaker The second season is wrapping up @JohnCena &@jennlhollandwho both gave great performances this season as Christopher Smith and Emilia Harcourt. To top it all off, filming yesterday was one of the most fun days of filming I've ever had! Thank you to the incredible people of Savannah, Georgia for making the Peacemaker crew's stay here so special.”
He looks like John Cena Peacemaker he might actually meet David Corenswet's Superman at some point in the future, especially since then Deadline states that they will have a specific character that will connect both franchises.
Per Deadline:
Season 2 of HBO The series will welcome Frank Grillo to the cast. Grillo will play Rick Flag Sr. in live form. Grillo first voiced the animated version of his character in the animated series Max Creature Commandos.
“He's not just a nice guy, not at all,” Gunn said EW recently. “We see all the different sides of his character. He is a morally complex man. Grillo is someone I've known for a while and wanted to work with for a long time. He was one of the first people I talked to when I took over the studio, like, 'we're going to find something cool for you,' and now he's everywhere.”
Interestingly enough, Gunn also teased the inclusion of a new character in his season 2 Peacemaker, posting a photo of someone near a fire with a caption that read: “Who could this be? #Peacemaker.”
We don't know, but we bet fans have their theories on who it will be.
