Jason Derulo was set to perform at SeaWorld Orlando's Seven Seas Food festival on April 21, but the singer has since pulled out.
In a new press release from PETA, the animal rights group says the “Savage Love” star canceled his scheduled performance after being made aware of the amusement park's alleged abuse of dolphins and whales. According to PETA, more than 500 dolphins and whales have died at SeaWorld facilities, and the animals are forced to perform tricks and are forcibly impregnated.
To thank Derulo, PETA sent the singer a “SeaWorld Sucks” t-shirt, as well as vegan dolphin-shaped fruit snacks and an adorable stuffed dolphin for his two-year-old son, Jason.
“Jason Derulo made the right call by refusing to support SeaWorld's body number with a performance,” PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman said in a press statement. “People will continue to turn their backs on SeaWorld as long as it relies on animal exploitation, which is why PETA is calling on the park to move its captive dolphins and whales to coastal sanctuaries.”
