A year ago, Jay-Z made the tough call to close his original 40/40 Club store in Midtown Manhattan. But it looks like that won't be the end of Hova's fancy big boys club, as it looks like it's planning to shop at a new location.
According to Peoplethe certified billionaire is eyeing a few different venues in New York to bring back his beloved establishment. While nothing is concrete yet, his team plans to break ground in 2025. The news comes on the heels of Jay-Z's soiree over the weekend at the Jacob Javitz Convention Center, where with the help of Fanatics Fest NYC, The Hip-Hop mogul had a 40/40 relationship where he was joined by some of the biggest names in pop culture and some of Hip-Hop's peers.
While details are scarce on where they'll try to land their new iteration of the 40/40 Club, club VP of operations Sheldon Robinson revealed they're hoping to get things rolling sooner rather than later.
People states:
The new club, which will be located somewhere in New York, was a passion project for Jay-Z after the original Manhattan location closed in August 2023 after 20 years of operation.
“Jay definitely wants to keep it as part of his legacy,” Robinson said, confirming the rapper was “very involved” in the process. Robinson revealed that Jay-Z is “on locations and in meetings” as the vision for the future takes place.
Calling Jay-Z “one of the smartest people I've ever worked for,” Robinson admired his ability to consistently turn his business ideas into reality.
Between a new Club 40/40 and the casino that Jay and co are trying to open in Times Square, Hova seems like he's once again trying to take over New York, but in a way that doesn't involve rap.
