No one likes to feel like their grill is broken. Especially when they show off their chompers on stage and in interviews all the time. This may explain why Jelly Roll recently underwent major dental reconstruction, which was, of course, thoroughly documented by his wife, Bunnie Xo.
In a hilarious TikTok video, Jelly, 39, lies in the dentist's chair while visibly sedated in dental goods to undergo a series of procedures including wisdom teeth removal, cavity filling and replacement of his 20-year-old veneers. “I'm in the practice of getting all my teeth redone,” Jellie smiles in the minute-long clip in which he leans back with a nasal cannula stuck to his face to keep oxygen flowing.
“I've had the same veneers for 20 years,” he explains, grinning widely to show off his chompers. “I'm finally getting them replaced, and I'm getting implants and I'm getting some cavities and some wisdom teeth. I do a lot of s–t. Totally reconstructive oral surgery sort of.”
When the doctor asks him how he's feeling, the singer says “sexy” as the room erupts in laughter, adding, “I feel great, man. I feel like I'm finally taking care of things.” His beloved partner Bunny tells him, “I'm proud of you!”, as Jelly says “I want a beautiful smile.” After Bunnie assures him that he will have the most beautiful smile, Jelly Roll reveals why his dental health is so important to him.
“I had an ugly smile when I was a kid. People were picking me up and making fun of me and stuff — haha, bh!” he laughs. At one point the dentist informs Jelly that he's biting his fingers, teasing that he might bite him back, before the clip ends with a sweet shot of Bunny's ragged hand with long claws holding Jelly's equally inked leg. A post-surgery clip then catches the singer leaving the office, declaring: “I slept well” as he walked to a waiting car while flashing two-fingered metal horns.
On Thursday (March 14), Jelly Roll was announced as one of the first rounds of performers for the 2024 CMA Fest in Nashville, scheduled to run June 6-9. Other acts set to take the stage at Nashville's Nissan Stadium include Kelsea Ballerini, Brothers Osborne, Luke Bryan, Jordan Davis, HARDY, Cody Johnson, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Ashley McBryde, Parker McCollum, Megan Moroney, Jon Pardi, Carly Pearce, The War. Treaty, Thomas Rhett, Keith Urban, Lainey Wilson and Bailey Zimmerman, with additional performances and collaborations to be announced in the coming weeks.
