Jennifer Aniston has slammed JD Vance after comments by the vice presidential candidate mocking “childless cat ladies” recently resurfaced online.
During a 2021 appearance on Tucker Carlson’s now-cancelled Fox News show, Vance said the country was being run by Democratic “corporate oligarchs” who had been elected by a “bunch of childless cat ladies who are miserable with their own lives and the choices they’ve made, and so they want to make the rest of the country miserable, too.”
Vance continued: “You look at [Vice President] Kamala Harris, [Transportation Secretary] Pete Buttigieg, [Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.)]:The entire future of the Democrats is controlled by people without children, and how does it make sense that we have handed our country over to people who really have no direct interest in it? (Editor's note: Harris is the stepmother of two children through her marriage to second gentleman Douglas Emhoff, while Buttigieg and his husband, Chasten, announced the birth of twins in September 2021.)
Aniston reposted Vance's comments on her Instagram on Wednesday night, writing as a caption: “I truly can't believe this is coming from a potential Vice President of the United States.”
He Friends and Morning show The star added: “I pray that your daughter is lucky enough to have children of her own one day. I hope she doesn’t have to resort to [in vitro fertilization] as a second option. Because you're trying to take that away from him, too.”
Anniston has been open in the past about her struggles to get pregnant, revealing that she underwent rounds of in vitro fertilization without success. Vance, meanwhile, voted against the Right to IVF Act, which would have protected the accessibility and affordability of in vitro fertilization (IVF) services nationwide, before it was introduced to the U.S. Senate in June 2024.
Jennifer Aniston, who rarely makes political statements, responds to @JDVance's comments about “childless cat ladies who are miserable with their own lives.”
