Jennifer Lopez is ready for the Met Gala.
The superstar and co-chairman of this year's event stopped by Good morning America on Monday morning (May 6), just hours before the famous red carpet at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, to see what fans can expect from her appearance. “You have to tune in to see,” he teased shyly. “But it's exciting, it's exciting. It's a fun night for fashion.”
When asked if she'll be able to 'walk' in her outfit, the 'Waiting For Tonight' singer replied, 'Not ever. Met Gala looks aren't about comfort.”
Lopez will be co-hosting the event alongside Bad Bunny, Zendaya, Chris Hemsworth and, as usual, Fashioneditor-in-chief Anna Wintour. “I was really honored to be asked to host it with Zendaya and Bad Bunny and Chris Hemsworth,” Lopez said. “Anna was kind enough to ask me. We will have a good time.”
This year's theme, Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion, is set to feature 250 items from the Costume Institute's permanent collection, according to an Instagram post announcing the theme in November. “From a 17th-century Elizabethan English bust and Christian Dior's famous Junon and Venus balls, to 21st-century acquisitions by designers such as Phillip Lim, Stella McCartney and Conner Ives, the main exhibition will span 400 years of history,” reads the caption. . Additionally, the event's dress code is “The Garden of Time,” inspired by a 1962 JG Ballard short story of the same name.
