Jessie J has admitted in a candid post that she hasn’t felt like herself “for a while”.
The 35-year-old hitmaker gave her fans an honest life update on Thursday alongside a series of snaps and videos on Instagram.
“I think it’s safe to say if there’s one thing I’m SURE of in life at the moment,” the singer began in the candid caption. “Is that I struggle when I’m not being open and honest with how I’m feeling. Whether it’s with my family and friends or on here with you lot who care and my fans.”
“I’m not myself, haven’t been for a while. I know I will come back and my spark will return. It’s been gone before and returned even brighter,” Jessie continued. “I always know there is sunshine after a storm. I’m just acknowledging that it’s not as strong as it once was right now. This isn’t just about becoming a new Mum, and that also isn’t a valid reason to accept it. (Incase any new Mums feel it might be).”
The Domino hitmaker welcomed her first baby, Sky, with her boyfriend, basketball player Chanan Safir Colman, in May last year. Since then, she has been open about the challenges of motherhood.
In the post, Jessie noted that she is “taking (her) time” to process “an accumulation of events and feelings”, adding that she often feels “exhausted and sad”.
The Price Tag performer also explained that she recently suffered an injury after falling off of the stage during a show.
“Last pic is one of my injuries from falling off the stage, a fat (middle finger up emoji) which is fitting as it’s what I do to my brain most days so it knows I’m not f**king with it feeling like this,” she wrote, referring to an image of her swollen finger.
Jessie jokingly concluded the post, “Also not me walking off the stage all cocky for my last show of the year, and RAKAKAKAKAKA down the stairs I went (sic).”
