Rocsi Diaz:
Hey guys, it’s Rocsi Dias with Billboard and Tres Generaciones Tequila. We’re embarking on a journey to celebrate the profound impact of music both on a personal level and within communities. And today we’re in the iconic city of New York, where skyscrapers touch the sky and hip-hop beats fill the streets. To contribute to this discussion, I’m joined by the legendary Method Man. A hip-hop pioneer, known for his electrifying performances and groundbreaking style. Joining him is Joey Bada$$, a captivating star whose authentic storytelling and raw talent have moved audiences on stage. And Billboard’s Hip-Hop/R&B Director Carl Lamarre, a music historian and the vital heart of Billboard’s editorial team. Just a few days ago, we kicked off the selection process for New York City’s Get Up Anthems. It was a challenge, but using Billboard’s exclusive chart data, we narrowed down nearly 40 songs to just a few tracks that are in this bowl. Before we get into the discussion, let’s raise our glasses to New York City’s rich musical heritage, courtesy of Tres Generaciones triple-distilled tequila. Let’s toast the city that continues to inspire and innovate. Let’s start with our friend Busta Rhymes’ “Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Could See.”
Man of method:
This was the album that made Busta break out among the leaders of the new school. This was his solo album and it was the first time anyone heard him rhyme with this cadence.
Keep watching for more!
