Wonderfully strange and esoteric filmmaker and artist John Waters is gearing up for his annual comedy tour “A John Waters Christmas.” To tease the tour, he announced a 7-inch vinyl that features his cover of “Jingle Bells” of the Singing Dogs which will arrive physically and digitally on November 9.
Produced by Grammy winner Ian Brennan, the press release describes Waters’ cover of “Jingle Bells” as a “howling spin that should delight (and possibly dishearten) dog owners everywhere.” Opposite the cover will be “It’s a Punk Rock Christmas,” which is reportedly a spoken-word song about “the spirit of punk rock during the anxiety-inducing season.” Pre-order via Sub Pop Records here.

“For over twenty years, John has produced his annual Christmas tour, so it seemed almost remiss that he didn’t have a Christmas album,” Brennan said. “Everyone from U2 to Justin Bieber to William Shatner to Bob Dylan has one, and John’s ingenuity couldn’t be a better way to brighten up the annual Christmas musical canon.”
The underground icon’s “A John Waters Christmas” tour kicks off Dec. 1 in Santa Cruz, California. He’ll then visit cities including Seattle, New York and Philadelphia before wrapping up Dec. 19 in Baltimore. Check out the full tour itinerary below and purchase your tickets. here.
