John Williams will turn 92 next month, but the legendary composer says he's not ready to hand over the baton just yet.
Williams himself previously hinted at retirement last year, suggesting that Indiana Jones and the dial of destiny It would be his final soundtrack. However, in a new interview with The London TimesWilliams clarified his status: “I don't care much about the big guys. pronouncements, firm and finished statements and surrounded by closed doors. If I made one without putting it in context then I take it down.”
“If a movie came along that I was really interested in, with a schedule I could handle, then I wouldn't rule anything out,” Williams added. “Anything is possible. Everything is before us. Only our limitations hold us back. Or, to put it more simply: I like to keep an open mind.”
Over the course of his seven-decade career, Williams has composed music for more than 75 films, including Star Wars, Jaws, Indiana Jonesand Harry Potter. To date, she has received five Academy Awards and is on the shortlist for another nomination in 2024.
In February, Williams will team up with Yo-Yo Ma for concerts in Philadelphia and New York. Tickets are available here.
