“I remember The Smiths were on tour with James in 1985,” Marr said in a statement. “We admired them and even did one of their songs in our set. I've been a fan of his ever since and to be on tour again after 40 years is really great.”
James' Tim Booth added: “Almost 40 years ago, James toured with the Smiths on the 'Meat Is Murder' tour. They welcomed us with such generosity and kindness that it changed our DNA. Co-headlining an American tour with the true Gent and genius that is Johnny Marr, is an honor and a pleasure. We look forward to making magic together.”
Last year, Marr released a compilation album titled spiritual power and spoke with Kyle Meredith about his book of photographs. Marr's guitars. Ahead of the joint tour, she has planned a solo trip across the UK and Ireland; get tickets here.
