JoJo Siwa may not be the originator of “gay pop,” but the singer certainly caused a stir when she performed at Los Angeles' Pride in the Park concert on Saturday (June 8).
In photos and clips captured by fans from her performance, the ex Dancer moms star appeared on stage and appeared with a bottle of vodka in her hand during the set, taking occasional swings throughout the performance, though it is unclear whether the bottle contained vodka or not. At one point in her set, Siwa he told the crowd about a recent comment he received from an internet troll. “There was a video of me performing, and some guy… I watched his page he was definitely straight,” the singer told the cheering crowd. “This guy commented and that was a new comment for me. that wasn't about it dance that I do, it wasn't about my hairline, it wasn't that I'm a [5-foot-9] giant toddler. He said, “This man must be stopped.”
As the crowd began booing the comment, Siwa shared how she would like to respond to the comment. “That's how I felt, until I realized two things,” he said. “No. 1, my dk is bigger than his, and No. 2, I've done more girls than him.”
Siwa gained significant viral attention earlier this year when she released her song “Karma” and said Billboard News in an interview that he “wanted to start a new kind of music… called 'gay pop'.” Many were quick to criticize Siwa's claim that she “created” the genre, leading the singer to clarify her statement in a video shared by TMZ. “I just want to make it more clear that gay pop is a genre,” he said. “I'm not the inventor of gay pop, definitely not. But I want to be a part of making it bigger than it already is. I want to pay more attention to it.”
