Jon Batiste scores his first No. 1 Bulletin boardThe Classical Albums chart, as his new work, Beethoven bluesdebuts at the top of the chart dated November 30. It is the first in a planned series of solo piano albums, and on this release, Batiste performs well-known works by composer Ludwig van Beethoven. Beethoven blues also bows to No. 1 on Bulletin boardClassical Crossover Albums chart, another first for Batiste.
The Grammy and Oscar-winning entertainer is also watching Beethoven blues bowed to No. 9 on the top album sales chart, with 13,000 copies sold in the U.S. in the week ending Nov. 21, according to Luminate. Batiste had previously scored seven top 10 sets on both the Traditional Jazz Albums and the Overall Jazz Albums charts, including a No. 1, Social Musicin 2014. Beethoven blues is his first title recorded in any of the Bulletin boardclassical album chart.
On the all-genre Billboard 200, Beethoven blues enters the no. 64, bringing Battiste's highest ever debut, and fifth overall try to record.
The album's first week sales were aided by its availability on four vinyl variants (including two signed editions), two CD variants (one signed) and a digital download album. In support of the project, Batiste appeared The Kelly Clarkson Show (November 11) and The Jennifer Hudson Show (November 18), and had a significant profile in The New York Times on November 19.
Bulletin boardThe Top Albums Sales chart ranks the best-selling albums of the week based on traditional album sales only. The history of the chart dates back to May 25, 1991, the first week Bulletin board began charting electronically tracked track count information from SoundScan, now Luminate. Net album sales was the sole metric used by the Billboard 200 album chart through the list dated December 6, 2014, after which that chart changed to a methodology that combines album sales with track-equivalent album units and album-equivalent units flow.
The Classical Albums chart ranks the most popular classical albums of the week, sorted by equivalent album units. The Classical Crossover Albums chart ranks the best-selling classical crossover titles of the week. Jazz Albums and Traditional Jazz Albums rank the most popular jazz and traditional jazz albums of the week, respectively, by equivalent album units earned.
As for the rest of the top 10 most recent selling albums: ATEEZ's GOLDEN HOUR: Part.2 debuts at no. 1 (179,000, the act's best sales week), Linkin Park's From scratch debut at no. 2 (72,000), Jin's Happy debut at no. 3 (66,000), topping the ENHYPEN chart Romance: Unspeakable jumps 26-4 (51,000, up 1,473% after deluxe reissue), MF Doom's MM..Food re-enters a new high at No. 5 (27,000, up 2,875% after deluxe reissue), former TOMORROW X TOGETHER leader Chapter The Star: HOLY falls 1-6 (17,000, down 82%), Sabrina Carpenter's; Short n' Sweet drop 4-7 (15,000, though 24%), Shawn Mendes; Sean debut at no. 8 (nearly 14,000) and Gwen Stefani Bouquet debut at no. 10 (11,000).
