Jon Hamm and Jimmy Fallon surprised viewers with a parody of Creed's “With Arms Wide Open” on Monday night's (Nov. 18) episode of tonight's showw.
Hamm was the guest of the evening and, after a commercial break, Fallon began the video with a strange question: “Do you remember when we were Creed?”
“Of course I remember, we were the lead singer of the band Creed,” Hamm replied nonchalantly, to which Fallon replied, “We made that music video together in the Scottish glen.”
As the two enter a flashback sequence, we see Hamm dressed as Scott Stapp from the “With Arms Wide Open” video. And soon after, Fallon appears, also as Scott Stapp in the “With Arms Wide Open” video, and the two begin duetting on the iconic song (one of ConsequenceThe 50 best post-grunge songs of all time).
The cheesy face transformation and AI rendering make for a hilariously awkward watch as the two Stapps sing to each other at the top of the glen, even fondling each other at one point. Hamm and Fallon are pretty close with their vocal imitations of Stapp, if a little over the top with the singer's affectations. All in all, it's probably the best Creed parody to hit network television since MadTV. Sketch of “You sound like me” since the early 2000s.
Fallon's parody falls in the middle of “Are You Ready?” North American tour, which extends until a show on December 5 in Orlando, Florida. After that, the band plays three New Year's Eve concerts with Sevendust, including one in Durant, Oklahoma, and two in Las Vegas. You can get tickets for Creed's upcoming tour dates. here.
