Jonathan Majors was found guilty in New York on Monday (December 18) after weeks of testimony and evidence presented to a jury. The actor was found guilty of reckless assault and harassment, but two other charges were dropped.
As shown in Deadline, Jonathan Majors, 34, was found guilty by a New York jury of three women and three men after a day or two of deliberations. The actor faced a total of four misdemeanor counts and was found not guilty of assault with intent in the third degree and not guilty of aggravated harassment in the second degree.
Majors will learn his sentence on February 6 next year. The judge overseeing the case said Majors is still under a protective order and must avoid contact with his accuser, Grace Jabbari. Majors pleaded not guilty and maintained his innocence throughout the ordeal that first came to public view in March this year.
A statement from Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg can be seen below:
At the Manhattan DA's office, we are committed to survivor-centeredness in all of our work. The evidence presented throughout this trial depicted a cycle of psychological and emotional abuse and escalating patterns of coercion all too common in the many cases of intimate partner violence we see every day. Today, a jury determined that the pattern of abuse and coercion culminated in Mr Majors assaulting and harassing his girlfriend. Thank you to the jury for their service and to the survivor who bravely told her story despite having to relive her trauma on the stand.
