Joseph Gordon-Levitt serenades wife from miles away with Taylor Swift's 'Fallon' cover

Joseph Gordon-Levitt leads the charge to bring back true lovers and longings. The appearance of the actor on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Wednesday it overlaps with his wife's birthday, leaving them separated on different coasts. Despite the distance, he used the show's platform to give Tasha McCauley a special gift in the form of a musical segment.

McCauley, who has been married to Gordon-Levitt for a decade, was serenaded from hundreds of miles away as her husband pulled out a guitar and performed Taylor Swift's “Lover” at the end of his segment. This is a song from a singer-songwriter that she really, really loves that you all might know,” Gordon-Levitt said, adding, “Baby, you're the brightest soul I've ever met. I'm so thankful you were born and I'll be back home soon. I love you.”

Gordon-Levitt orchestrated the surprise with Fallon himself. “Today is actually my wife's birthday. I am so sad because he is not here in New York with me. I'm here working and she came home. I feel so awful. I texted Jimmy and said, 'Can I get her a special birthday present on the show?' the actor explained.

“We're here to make dreams come true,” added Fallon, who had an acoustic guitar waiting for Gordon-Levitt behind his desk.

Swift herself has not performed The Tonight Show since 2019, when he appeared alongside Fallon and the Roots for a performance of “Memory” from Cats along with her fellow cast members.
