Josh Homme admits headlining Download Festival is no different to playing a gig in Bournemouth.
The Queens of the Stone Age frontman says fans can expect some “gifts” when they top the alternative music festival at Donington Park in England's East Midlands next June, but the build-up to the festival is no different to their inner concerts. as both are “equally nice” in the game.
Speaking to NME, Josh said: “Is it just going to be the same-old-same-old?” Homme bean. “You always have to give it your all and changing it up every night is what we want, so it's always going to be something different. I don't think there's any reason to stumble out.”
Keyboardist and guitarist Dean Fertita said: “I think the reason the shows have been so good is because there's a relaxed approach. We'll decide five minutes before we go on to play something we haven't played in 20 years.”
Josh added: “And if you see someone with a sign that says, 'Make that damn tune,' then it's nice to be able to react in the moment.
“We come bearing gifts and we want to give them all away. It's nice to play Donington, but it's just as nice to play Bournemouth. This isn't cheap either – it's both as good as it gets. These are not real problems.”
Fall Out Boy and Avenged Sevenfold are fellow headliners at the rock extravaganza which takes place between June 14 and June 16.
Royal Blood, The Offspring, Machine Head, Pantera, Bad Omens, Corey Taylor, While She Sleeps, Sum 41, Billy Talent, The Used, Babymetal, Bowling For Soup, Heilung, Polyphia, Thy Art Is Murder, The Black Dahlia Murder, Biohazard and more will also rock Donington.
