A woman who accuses Didi for sexual assault she should give up her anonymity. The presiding judge ordered her to reveal her name in order for the case to proceed.
As per New York Daily News, A Manhattan federal judge has ruled that a woman who claims Didi raped her more than 20 years ago must reveal her name. On Wednesday (October 30), Judge Mary Kay Vyskocil found her arguments “completely without merit”. The US district judge explained her reasoning in a formal response. “Combs has had no contact with the Plaintiff for approximately 20 years since the alleged rape and Combs is currently in custody awaiting trial. Therefore, counsel found no present threat of physical harm to Plaintiff,” the release said.
Additionally, Vyskocil wants the case to be fair to both parties, so the plaintiff will be required to come forward in order for Diddy to adequately defend himself. “The Court appreciates that Combs is a public figure and therefore Plaintiff is likely to face public scrutiny if she proceeds in her name. The Court is not unaware of the potential consequences of such an audit on any party,” he explained. “However, plaintiff's interest in avoiding public scrutiny, or even embarrassment, does not outweigh the interests of both Combs and the public in the ordinary and constitutionally built-in presumption of transparency in judicial proceedings,” the judge added.
While that requirement only applies to this case, Judge Mary Kay Vyskocil's ruling could potentially affect other lawsuits against Diddy where plaintiffs use pseudonyms. Didi's defense team denied the allegations. Jane Doe has until Nov. 13 to reveal her name or the case will be dismissed. The Tennessee woman claims she was raped in a studio by Diddy and members of his entourage in 2004.
