French electronic duo preview forthcoming techno-inspired hardcore LP with 'One Night/All Night' and 'Generator'
Justice will return this spring with Hyperdrama, the French electronic duo's first studio album since 2018.
Ahead of the album's April 26 release via Ed Banger/Because Records, the “DANCE” duo shared a pair of new songs, “One Night/All Night” featuring Tame Impala — along with its music video in directed by Anton Tammi — and the track “Generator”.
“We wanted this track to sound like a dark/techno remix of Justice had found a sample of a disco remix [Tame Impala’s] Kevin Parker,” Justice's Gaspard Augé and Xavier de Rosnay said of the single — which also interjects Jeremy's classic techno.I go with the flow” — in a statement.
“Kevin has a sense of melody that is exciting in the sense that he manages to write melodies that are simple and natural, but at the same time very strange. This song oscillates between pure electronic music and pure disco, but you never manage to do both at the same time. This very idea of instantly changing from one genre to another within a song runs throughout the record and is perhaps most clearly presented in 'One Night/All Night'.
The hardcore techno vibes continue on Justice's other new track, “Generator.” “Disco/funk and electronic music in general have always been staples of the music we make as Justice,” added the duo. “In 'Hyperdrama' we make them coexist, but not in a peaceful way. We like that idea of making them fight for attention a little bit.”
Justice — who last released the Grammy-winning Woman in 2016 — are scheduled to appear on both weekends of Coachella, their only 2024 US concerts announced so far. Hyperdrama is available on pre-order now.
