Juvenile was on Instagram Live over the weekend when he was bothered by fans asking him about a Hot Boys reunion. The crew consisting of Juvenile, BG, Lil Wayne and Turk has not released an album since 2003. Let them burnso he was asked about a reunion since before Instagram was even a thing.
Well, it looks like all the teasing has finally paid off, because the Cash Money Millionaire revealed that not only will the Hot Boys be reuniting at Essence Fest in New Orleans this July, but they're also working on a new album.
“The Hot Boys are back together, man. How about getting the Hot Boys back together? Show that y'all don't keep up with the s–t,” he says in a clip from his Live. “The Turk will be with me tonight, I will be with BG next week. Me, Wayne, Turk and BG will all be on stage in New Orleans with Mannie Fresh and Birdman. And we've already started working on a Hot Boys album. Any other f-king questions? Keep asking to collect the Hot Boys. Be patient.”
It is unclear whether or not there is a larger release planned for the upcoming Hot Boys reunion. It's hard to imagine that the plan was for Juvie to casually blurt it out on Instagram Live.
Juvenile recently found success making a video for the title track from his 1998 album 400 points. The video features producer Mannie Fresh and was created to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the multi-platinum album.
Creative differences aside, one factor that heavily influenced the Hot Boys is incarceration. BG and Turk both served lengthy prison terms, with the former serving 12 years and the latter serving nine years.
Since launching in September, BG has dropped a torrent of music, including “Gold Teeth Grizzle” and “I really understand.” A few months after Turk returned home in 2012, a remix of his song 'Zip It' featuring Juvie, Wayne and BG surfaced, making it one of their first reunion songs since 2003.
Either way, this is great news for white t-shirt lovers everywhere.
